Introduction

Like any student at City Charter High School I must complete a graduation project. As part of that project, in which I research hobby robotics, I will be building a robot.

What is Hobby Robotics?

Hobby robotics is the practice of amateur robot building at home, for the purpose of just fun or competing. Less professionally said, robot hobbyists are people who enjoy science and technology and the love the challenge of bring electronics and hardware to life. There is a growing online community of shared ideas about building the robots and an even faster growing network of organizations supporting builders.

What even is a robot?

A robot is a machine that can learn about the world around it and then change something about that world. Stereo-typically  a robot is a deranged, self-aware, humanoid machine bent on destruction of humans. Thankfully, however, robots do what they are told to do. Robots use sensor to pick up information about their environment, then think with an on board computer  about what that information implies, before using some device to change the environment.

What will your robot do?

Great question! I haven't yet decided, but you can give me you input by click the Brainstorming Survey page above. Read up on some of my ideas before taking the survey where you can rank them and then suggest your own ideas. I will actually take the survey into consideration when I decide which to build.
